Happy 2019! I know things have been quiet on here the last couple weeks, but that’s because I have been quietly plotting out the new year. I have a lot in store for Her Bags Were Packed in 2019, but the first thing I am excited to share with you is the introduction of our very own book club.
I have carefully selected six books for the year. Three are incredibly unique solo travel memoirs written by women, and three are focused on personal development. As you know, Her Bags Were Packed has a dual focus on solo travel and releasing emotional baggage; so I felt it was important to have both topics equally represented in the book club selections.
Here’s how the book club will work:
*On the first Monday of every other month, the newest book club selection will be announced here on the blog.
*If you’re interested in participating, let me know here. This form has a list of potential dates and times for the Book Club Meeting (via video chat). The meeting date will be chosen based on the most popular vote.
*Every Thursday in the Her Bags Were Packed Facebook group there will be a #HBWPBookClub Discussion Thread where participants can share what they’re getting out of the book.
*The Book Club will meet via video chat during the last week of the month at the time chosen by the majority of participants. Even if you can’t make it to the meeting, you can still participate in the weekly discussion threads (and vice versa).
January/February Book Selection
Our January/February book selection is Daring Greatly by Dr. Brene Brown. Daring Greatly is based on Brene Brown’s groundbreaking research surrounding the ideas of shame, vulnerability and wholehearted living. In the book, she discusses the need to embrace vulnerability and dare greatly in order to live wholeheartedly. I’ve read (and listened to) Daring Greatly many times in the last five years, and her teachings have become guideposts helping me to navigate life in a more fulfilling and wholehearted way.
If you would like to join us for this first round of the Her Bags Were Packed book club, please let me know here. If you don’t have a copy of Daring Greatly, you can grab a copy here.
